Artist statement: I created the Max Mueller Daisies while pursuing my love of the Australian natural environment as a caretaker at the Eyre Bird Observatory. Located in Western Australia, the Bird Observatory is a remote research station designed to collect information about birds and wildlife. Because of Covid 19, the Observatory was unable to host visitors, allowing many hours to appreciate the beauty of the natural surroundings and pursuing my enjoyment of craft reflecting Australian flora. Australia has many places of natural beauty which must be preserved and protected. The Snowy Mountains is just such a place. The damage caused by feral horses is a real threat to this unique place of spectacular mountain scenery and unique flora and fauna and needs to be addressed before it is too late.
