Broad toothed mouse (Mastacomys fuscus)
watercolour, watercolour pencil, inktense, archival 300gsm paper
21 x 14.7 cm
Artist statement: The small painting of the broad toothed mouse is one of many that reflects a life-long interest in the natural world. I feel strongly that Australia has to invest time and money into the research and protection of our unique flora and fauna. We have lost too much already. I paint and draw a wide range of birds, animals and plants, along with some historical themes. Domestic animals have a place and I enjoy drawing them all, but in the diminishing wild world we must focus on the fragility of what we may lose. This needs action through knowledge and awareness. I would like to assist with conservation connected themes, and contribute to positive change, in a small way.
