Artist statement: I love Horses. I really do. But I love wildflowers and wetlands and Corroboree frogs too. I love everything about our fragile and precious Alpine regions. I’ve been lucky enough to have spent a lot of time there working on the conservation of the Mountain Pygmy Possum and Red Fox control research. But unfortunately wild Horses are not compatible with our ancient land up there. Between the fires and the ferals and other environmental pressures like drought; if we are not good custodians, we will soon be left with an empty Alpine National Heritage landscape, that will be just piles of boulders and gravel. Then nothing will be able to survive there. That is not what anyone would want. Our family has rescued a Brumby. I hope all who love Brumbies will invest in the rescue programme if they can.
