Too many horses (collage)

acrylic paint, artist’s own hair, paper

21 x 14.7 cm

Artist statement: Alpine regions occupy only 0.54% of NSW and support more than 200 plant species yet we are allowing feral horses to destroy this unique environment, trampling creek beds to mud, wallowing and laying bare areas on hillsides, consequently contributing to the extinction of native animals, erosion of the landscape and pollution of our drinking water.  Through my collage I intend to make people aware of this dilemma. By portraying the corroboree frogs as semi-abstract forms, I hope to convey the tenuous nature of their existence.
