Swamp everlasting

Xerochrysum palustre
Vulnerable: Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999

Found in Kosciuszko National Park and the eastern escarpment south of Badja. Swamp everlasting is also found in eastern Victoria.

It grows in swamps and bogs that are often dominated by heaths. It also grows at the edges of bog margins on peaty soils with a cover of shrubs or grasses, and is sometimes found in bogs with sphagnum.

  • Feral horses, pigs, deer and cattle, that graze on and trample the vegetation.
  • Permanent seepage areas necessary for survival may become dry and degraded, allowing colonisation of species typical of drier vegetation.
  • Damage by off-road vehicles.
