Caladenia montana

Vulnerable: Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016


This native terrestrial orchid is found only in alpine areas of Kosciuszko National Park NSW (between 700-1000m ASL), particularly in the Pilot Wilderness.

It flowers from October to January and is pollinated by a wasp from the genus Phymatothynnus.

This beautiful orchid flourishes after fire.

 

Threats

  • Weed invasion.
  • Trampling and grazing habits of cattle, feral horses and pigs.
