In NSW the black-hooded sun orchid only exists in two places; Botany Bay National Park, and Bago State Forest south of Tumut.
The Bago population was estimated in 1999 to consist of approximately 50 plants only.
Threats
- Grazing and trampling by feral horses, pigs and cattle.
- Illegal collection .
- Disturbance by forestry operations.
